Every August, the streets of Toronto brighten with the colourful parade of costumed dancers, compelling steel bands and thousands of spectators. Caribana originated from Caribbean cultures and was brought to Canada by immigrants from the Caribbean. Every year tourists flow to attend this event and enjoy the night parties after the parade. Besides the multi-coloured masqueraders, the steel bands that drum the triumphant Caribbean beats in a competitive mood are the heart and soul of the carnival.
